Washington, D.C. Visit Highlights Commitment to Public Service

John Damms, candidate for President of the United States, visited Washington, D.C. as part of his continued effort to better understand the institutions, history, and responsibilities of the presidency.
During the visit, Damms toured the United States Capitol, visited the Library of Congress, and spent time near the United States Supreme Court.
“Running for President is more than asking people for their vote. I believe you have a responsibility to learn, listen, and understand the government you are asking to lead,” Damms said.
The visit is part of Damms' ongoing commitment to learning firsthand, meeting people, and preparing for the challenges of national leadership.

Campaign Visits Historic American Landmarks

As part of my continued campaign for President of the United States, I recently traveled to several of America's most historic sites, including Gettysburg National Cemetery, Fort McHenry, and the Maryland State House.
The trip was an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices and leadership that have shaped our nation while reaffirming the principles that continue to guide my campaign.
At Gettysburg National Cemetery, I paid my respects to the men and women whose sacrifices helped preserve our Union. I also delivered brief remarks reflecting on the importance of honoring those who served and preserving the freedoms they fought to defend. Standing near where President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address was a powerful reminder that every generation has a responsibility to protect our nation's ideals.
I visited Fort McHenry, where I had the privilege of participating in the raising of the historic garrison flag. As a United States Army veteran, taking part in that ceremony was especially meaningful. Standing at the birthplace of The Star-Spangled Banner reinforced my appreciation for those who have defended our nation throughout its history and for the ideals represented by our flag.
The trip also included a visit to the Maryland State House, the oldest state capitol still in continuous legislative use. Walking through one of our nation's most significant historic buildings provided another reminder of the vision, courage, and commitment of America's Founding Fathers.
Our country's history is more than something we read in books and it is something we should continue to learn from and preserve. As I travel across the nation, I remain committed to listening to Americans, learning from our history, and working toward a stronger future for every citizen.
I am grateful for everyone who continues to support this campaign. Together, we can build a future that honors our past while meeting the challenges of tomorrow.
